Chinese Brush Art
This style of painting is about using the whole body to view the subject, without measuring or defining it, whereas the Western artist has been more interested in the eye and what it sees. The Chinese therefore paint what they know, not what they see.
The non-outline method of brush painting makes use of all these techniques to produce very expressive artworks. It is usually painted on absorbent Chinese paper, called Xuan paper.
The brush strokes give the painting rhythm and beauty and depict the subject's outward and inner qualities. At the same time, they reveal the individuality and style of the painter himself.
